Role: Compliance Officer

Function Mission
- The Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that the procurement team complies with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies and procedures.
- Plays a critical role in developing and implementing compliance programs, conducting audits, monitoring adherence to regulations, and providing guidance to the team on compliance matters.
- The Compliance Officer works closely with the legal and procurement team to promote a culture of compliance and mitigate risks related to non-compliance.
Responsibilities
- Develops, implement, and manage compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Be updated on changes in laws and regulations relevant to the team and the organization’s operations, assess the impact on compliance obligations, and communicate updates to key stakeholders.
- Work with the legal team on contracts relating to the procurement department to ensure compliance to internal processes and procedures.
- Conduct periodic audits and assessments of procurement internal processes, systems, and controls to identify compliance gaps, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions.
- Organize Knowledge Sharing Sessions (KSS) and materials to educate the team on compliance requirements, ethical standards, and best practices to foster a culture of compliance awareness.
- Prepare compliance reports, maintain records of compliance activities, and report on compliance metrics to the head of department.
- Investigate compliance incidents, violations, or concerns and collaborate with the legal department to address issues and implement remediation plans to prevent recurrences.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential compliance risks, evaluate their impact, and develop risk mitigation strategies to minimize the organization’s exposure to non-compliance.
Professional Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.
- 2-3 years of experience in compliance, risk management preferably in the construction industry.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of compliance frameworks, risk assessment methodologies, and best practices in compliance management.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Attention to detail, ethical conduct, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Familiar with compliance software, data analytics tools, and document management systems.
