Job Title: Chief Operating Officer.

The Job
- The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be responsible for the success of the Bank in all its operational activities.
- He/she will oversee the day-to-day administrative, technological, and operational functions of the bank.
- The COO will collaborate with the Managing Director, executive team and heads of departments to develop and coordinate implementation of operational plans to drive the delivery of exceptional services to clients.
Your Responsibilities
Operational Leadership:
- Provide strategic direction and oversight of all operational functions within the bank, including but not limited to Treasury operations, trade finance, risk management, and compliance.
- Streamline operational processes, workflows, and systems to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service quality.
- Implement best practices and standards to ensure operational excellence and regulatory compliance across all business units.
Strategic Planning and Execution:
- Collaborate with the managing and executive teams to develop and execute the bank’s strategic plan, aligning operational objectives with overall business goals.
- Identify growth opportunities, market trends, and emerging risks to inform strategic decision-making and resource allocation.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to track progress towards strategic objectives and drive continuous improvement.
Technology and Innovation:
- Evaluate and implement technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency, automate manual processes, and support digital transformation initiatives.
- Drive innovation and adoption of emerging technologies to optimize customer experience, increase competitiveness, and drive revenue growth.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the operations team.
Risk Management and Compliance:
- Oversee risk management practices and frameworks to identify, assess, and mitigate operational, financial, and regulatory risks.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards governing the merchant banking activities.
- Establish robust internal controls and audit processes to safeguard assets, protect against fraud, and maintain data integrity.
Stakeholder Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including senior management, department heads, and cross-functional teams.
- Collaborate with external partners, vendors, regulators, and industry associations to advance the bank’s strategic objectives and reputation.
Leadership and Development:
- Develop and retain top talent to build a high-performing operations team capable of executing the bank’s strategic objectives.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to operations staff, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and professional growth.
- Implement training and development programs to enhance skills, competencies, and knowledge across the operations function.
Qualifications
- First Degree in Banking, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- MBA or relevant master’s degree.
- 10+ years of senior leadership experience in financial services operations, with a focus on merchant banking or investment banking.
- Proven track record of success in driving operational excellence, managing risk, and implementing strategic initiatives in a regulated environment.
- Strong understanding of financial markets, products, and regulatory requirements relevant to merchant banking activities.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the bank.
- Professional membership of relevant body or institution.
